Stress-regulated transcription factor
DREB1A is a transcription factor, naturally found in Arabidopsis, which in interacts with a cis-acting promoter element (operator) induces expression of stress tolerance genes downstream, particularly those related to drought, salt loading and freezing environmental stresses. This provides enhanced tolerance to stress conditions without affecting plant growth. In the context of the project at hand, we are introducing this part in HeLa cells with long-term goals of constructing superior salt-sensing and tolerance mechanisms in mammalian cells.
